    1. Thanks Harry, this was probably one of the most enlightening lists for me to put together. For most of the others I at least had a pretty good idea beforehand who would be in the top 10, but for this one I was learning lots of names I hadn’t heard before.

  2. Is Marguerite Beaugé arguably the best solo film editor? Every higher editor except Nino Baragli worked with one director for their top five, and Baragli worked with one director for his top three – where Beaugé had four directors, and two separate directors for her top three.

    1. She’s a got a solid case there, I would also caveat that with her being the best solo film editor who also wasn’t a director – Eisenstein and Kurosawa for instance worked as solo editors on their own films for instance. Like you mentioned, her and Rabinowitz are the only ones in that tier to have an insanely strong top 3 split across multiple directors. It would take incredible judgement and talent to accomplish something like that.
